The 2026/27 school year

Summer 2027: two certificates in one exam season

Secondary 2 pupils sit the first Egyptian Baccalaureate certificate exams in the same season as the Thanaweya Amma 2027. Here are the dates and rules as the ministry has announced them, to build your revision plan around.

Egyptian Baccalaureate

Secondary 2 (Grade 11)

First attempt. An earlier ministry calendar gave 12 to 22 June 2027; the decision of 17 August 2026 set it in May.

  • Secondary 2 carries 400 of the certificate’s 600 marks.
  • Four subjects count: Arabic, Egyptian history, the first foreign language and one elective from your track.
  • An optional second attempt follows in July, and the higher mark counts.
  • Each exam is half multiple choice and half written answers, and completing 60 percent of the weekly and monthly assessments is a condition for the first attempt.

Thanaweya Amma 2027

Secondary 3 (Grade 12)

The exam window in the ministry’s 2026/27 school calendar.

  • For pupils who entered secondary school in 2024/25 and stayed on the Thanaweya Amma.
  • From this year, each exam is half multiple choice and half written answers.
  • Five subjects count towards 320 marks: Arabic out of 80, and each of the other four out of 60.

International-school learners: the identity subjects are tested this year

On 6 September 2026 the ministry told directorates to test international-school pupils in the national identity subjects, from Primary 3 to Secondary 3. A learner moving into the Egyptian Baccalaureate needs 70 percent in these subjects.

How it works

From a short enquiry to a steady weekly lesson

Step by step, at your own pace.

  1. Tell us what you need

The stage or the course, the subject, and the times that suit you in Cairo time. For a child, a parent or guardian fills in the form, and it never asks for the child’s name.

  2. We suggest a tutor

Someone on our team reads your enquiry and suggests a tutor who teaches your curriculum and stage, with the hourly price in Egyptian pounds, all-in.

  3. Meet in a first lesson

Online, in the browser on a phone or a laptop. It is your chance to check that the way the tutor explains suits you.

  4. Keep a steady rhythm

Fixed times each week until the end of the term. If you want a different tutor in any week, we make the change free of charge.

Why online

Lessons shaped around a day in Egypt

The lesson reaches the learner in any governorate and fits around the school day, lectures or work.

  • No daily trip across town

One tutor gives the whole hour to one learner, wherever you have a quiet corner and a connection. The time the road used to take goes into study.

  • After school, and around Saturday

Lessons sit after the school day, in the evening or at the weekend. Some governorates keep school on Saturday, so your timetable follows your own week.

  • Light on mobile data

Lessons run in the browser on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, from a phone or a laptop. On a weak connection the camera can go off while the voice and the shared page carry on. WhatsApp is for messages.

  • In Egyptian Arabic or in English

National-curriculum subjects are explained in the Arabic you speak every day, and IGCSE, the American Diploma and IELTS in English. A tutor who speaks both can explain a hard idea in each.

Beyond school

For university, for work, and for what you choose to learn

University students, working adults and anyone learning for their own reasons get the same live lesson with one tutor, at hours that fit around lectures or work.

  • University students

English for lectures, reports and presentations, IELTS for a master’s abroad, and German for study in Germany, at times that fit your lecture timetable.

    Languages for adults
  • English for work and IELTS

Meetings, email, interviews and calls in English, from the very beginning or from your current level, or all four skills for the IELTS Academic or General Training test.

    English courses
  • German for study and work

From A1 to B1, the levels visas and universities ask for. National visas issued at the German Embassy in Cairo rose 25.7 percent from 2023 to 2025, with 3,172 for study and 3,160 for work in 2025.

    German courses
  • Quran memorisation and tajweed

Memorisation at your own pace with regular revision, the rules of tajweed, and preparation for the ijaza, for children and adults who choose it. You may ask for a male or a female tutor.

    Quran programmes
  • Arabic for non-native speakers

Modern Standard Arabic from the first letters, for residents, international students and anyone starting the language, in Egypt or abroad.

    Arabic programmes

Every learner of every faith is welcome. Quran memorisation and tajweed are a programme for those who choose it.

Egyptian learners abroad

The Egyptian curriculum, wherever you live

113,743 Egyptian pupils living abroad sat the ministry’s exams in 2024/25, from KG to Secondary 2, at Egyptian embassies and consulates. With an Egyptian tutor who knows the same books, you stay on the syllabus grade by grade.

  • Every stage

Primary, preparatory and secondary, including the Egyptian Baccalaureate and the Thanaweya Amma from abroad.

  • Ready for the May exams

The ministry holds its exams for pupils abroad every May. In 2026, registration closed on 3 May and results came out on 25 June.

  • Your clock and Cairo’s

Lesson times are agreed in Cairo time and written in your local time too.

Questions

Questions learners and parents ask

Hourly prices by curriculum: the Egyptian national curriculum from EGP 150; IGCSE and the American Diploma from EGP 450; languages for adults from EGP 300; Quran and Arabic from EGP 100. Every price is in Egyptian pounds and includes everything.

We start from the curriculum and the stage, or the course and your level, then the subject and the times you have free. The tutor we suggest teaches that syllabus, and the first lesson is your chance to check that the explanations suit you. If they do not, we suggest another tutor for the same syllabus, and tutor replacement is free.

Yes. The tutor explains on a shared screen, watches you answer questions in the new format, half multiple choice and half written, and marks your answers as you go. Together you build a revision plan on the ministry calendar, so you reach the exam having practised every kind of question it asks.

In whichever you learn best. National-curriculum subjects are usually explained in Arabic, and IGCSE, the American Diploma and IELTS in English, the language of the exam. Language-school pupils who study maths and science in English can have them explained in both.

At the times you choose, on any day of the week, Friday and Saturday included. Every time is agreed in Cairo time. Egypt moves its clocks an hour forward from the last Friday of April to the last Thursday of October, and lesson times follow Cairo’s clock through the change.

Yes. With a younger learner, a parent or guardian may sit in on any lesson or join for the last few minutes. For a learner under 15, a parent or guardian gives the consent, and the enquiry form asks for the parent’s details and leaves out the child’s name.

Yes. Egyptian learners abroad study the Egyptian curriculum grade by grade, from primary to secondary, with a tutor who knows the same books, ready for the ministry’s exams held every May. Times are agreed in Cairo time and written in your local Gulf time too.

Tell us what you want to learn

More than 15,000 learners started with a short enquiry like this one: the stage or course, the subject and the times that suit you. A person reads it and replies with a suggested tutor.
