Who it is for
For Egyptian learners living abroad, from primary to secondary
According to a study published by CAPMAS, Egypt’s statistics agency, 7.09 million Egyptians live in Arab countries. Many learners in those households attend a local school by day and sit the Egyptian curriculum exams in the same year. A primary pupil learns with the tutor while a parent books the times and reads the progress notes.
- Primary pupils following the Egyptian curriculum beside a local school
- Preparatory learners before the ministry’s exams
- Secondary learners, in the Egyptian Baccalaureate or the Thanaweya Amma
- Learners returning to Egypt who need to catch up
How the system and its exams work
Ministry exams for Egyptian pupils abroad
The ministry’s system for pupils abroad (أبناؤنا في الخارج, “our children abroad”) lets an Egyptian learner living outside Egypt study the Egyptian curriculum and sit ministry exams from the country they live in, through the ministry’s platform. In the 2025/26 cycle, registration closed on 3 May 2026, second-term exams ran in May and results appeared on 25 June 2026.
- Grades
- In 2024/25 learners sat exams from kindergarten to Secondary 2.
- Timing
- In the 2025/26 cycle: first term from 10 January, second term from 16 May, results in late June.
- Results
- Published on the ministry platform sabroad.emis.gov.eg as “passed” or “did not pass”.
- Secondary
- In 2026/27 the Secondary 2 year group studies the Egyptian Baccalaureate and Secondary 3 sits the Thanaweya Amma.
- Time difference

How the exams run
The exams for pupils abroad, step by step, from the form to the result
A year in the system for pupils abroad passes through five stages, all announced on the ministry’s platform. The dates below are from the 2025/26 cycle. In August 2026 the deputy minister of education said the ministry was studying marks for some stages and in-person exams in some countries, with no final instructions issued at that point, so your plan follows the latest notice on the platform.
The form and the portal account
Registration starts with an account on the ministry portal, where the number of children is set, the fees are paid online, the form is completed and the documents are uploaded as PDF files. In the 2025/26 cycle the form closed for every grade on Sunday 3 May 2026.
Two terms of exams
Exams follow the two-term system. In 2025/26 the first term started on Saturday 10 January 2026 and the second term on Saturday 16 May 2026. Seat numbers and timetables appear on the platform before each term.
The day of each subject
From Primary 3 to Primary 6, and in Preparatory 3, the paper is downloaded as a PDF. The learner writes their name and seat number at the top of every page, and the answers are scanned and uploaded on the same day. Preparatory 1 and 2 and Secondary 1 and 2 sit electronic tests on the platform.
Questions with four options
From Primary 3 to Secondary 2 every question is multiple choice with four options. The learner ticks one answer, and a tick beside two or more answers cancels the mark for that question. Kindergarten, Primary 1 and Primary 2 are assessed with a performance file.
The result and the second round
Results are given as “passed” or “did not pass”, and learners in this system are exempt from coursework, activities and practical exams. First-round results came out on 25 June 2026, and the second round and the placement tests started on Saturday 11 July 2026.
Stages and subjects
The stages and grades we teach in the Egyptian curriculum abroad
The system for pupils abroad covers Egyptian schooling from kindergarten to Secondary 2 (Grade 11), and each stage has its own subjects and its own way of sitting the exam. Your tutor works from the ministry books for the grade you registered in, starting with the subjects in this year’s exams.
Primary stage
Primary 1 to Primary 6 (Grades 1 to 6)
In Primary 1 and 2 the pupil builds reading, writing and number, and completes the performance file that is printed and uploaded to the platform. From Primary 3 the written paper with multiple-choice questions begins, and from Primary 4 science and social studies join the timetable. After each lesson the tutor’s notes go to whoever registered the pupil.
Subjects
- Arabic
- English or French
- Maths in Arabic, English or French
- Science from Primary 4
- Social studies from Primary 4
- Islamic or Christian religious education
Preparatory stage
Preparatory 1 to Preparatory 3 (Grades 7 to 9)
In Preparatory 1 and 2 the learner sits electronic tests on the platform, and in Preparatory 3 the downloaded paper returns. Preparatory 3 is the year of the preparatory certificate, followed by the choice between the Thanaweya Amma and the Egyptian Baccalaureate, so its plan starts in the first week of the first term.
Subjects
- Arabic

- Maths: algebra and geometry
- Science in Arabic or a foreign language
- Social studies
- A second language: German, Italian or Spanish

On the Thanaweya Amma route, Secondary 1 and 2 are sat in the system for pupils abroad and the Secondary 3 certificate exam is sat inside Egypt. On the Baccalaureate route, only Secondary 1 is sat from abroad, and Secondary 2 and 3 are studied inside Egypt.

How lessons run
How online Egyptian curriculum lessons run while you live abroad
From the first message to exam day, lessons follow clear steps that the learner and whoever registered them both know. Every lesson is live, with sound and video, one tutor with one learner, on the ministry’s own books.
Tell us your grade and your country
In the enquiry form you give the grade, the subjects, the country you live in and the hours you have free after your local school. For a primary pupil the grade and the subject are enough, with no name.
We match a tutor who knows your grade’s books
Our team picks an Egyptian tutor who has taught the ministry books for your grade and knows the multiple-choice papers you sit from abroad, from a network that has taught more than 15,000 learners.
The first lesson sets the starting point
The tutor looks at what you have covered at your local school and what is missing from the ministry books, then sets a plan for the term up to the January or May exams and picks the units to start with.
Teaching and practice in the exam format
The tutor teaches the lesson, then works through four-option questions with you as they appear on the ministry paper, and practises writing the seat number and ticking one answer per question.
Revision before every subject
In the last weeks before each term the tutor revises every unit in the order of the exam timetable published on the platform, with extra time on the questions you got wrong during the term.
Where online lessons fit
An Egyptian tutor online, wherever you live
Online lessons are the practical way to learn with a tutor who knows the Egyptian curriculum while you live far from Egypt. We agree every time in Cairo time and in your local time, and the tutor works from the same books the ministry exams are built on.
- Times that fit the school day where you live
- A tutor who knows the ministry books and the shape of their exams
- A plan that is complete before the May exams
- Lessons in Arabic, and in English for subjects studied in English
What you gain
What an Egyptian learner abroad gains from an online Egyptian curriculum tutor
A learner abroad studies two curricula in one year and sits the Egyptian one from a distance. These gains are what make the online lesson a fixed part of the week.
Times after your local school day
We set lesson times with the tutor that come after your school and its homework, and write every time in your local time and in Cairo time, so the Egyptian curriculum sits beside your school day.
The ministry books you are examined on
The tutor works from the same grade books the platform’s questions are built on, so you study what the term exam asks, in the order of the units in the book.
Practice in the exam format for pupils abroad
Exams in this system are multiple choice with four options, on an uploaded paper or an electronic test. Learners practise both formats and walk into each subject knowing what to expect.
The language you study in
The platform offers maths and science in Arabic, English or French. We match a tutor who teaches the subject in the language you registered in and links its terms to what you study at your local school.
Ready for a return to Egypt
A pass certificate for your grade opens the matching grade in Egyptian schools when you return, through the education administration where you live. A clear plan on the ministry books makes that move a smooth one.
Free tutor replacement
If the tutor does not suit the way you learn, we match you with another tutor at no extra cost, and your plan carries on from where it stopped.
Where learners get stuck
Where Egyptian learners abroad get stuck, and what the tutor does
These are the situations a learner of the Egyptian curriculum outside Egypt meets most often, and each one has a clear answer in the lesson.
Two curricula in one year: the local school and the ministry
What the tutor does
The tutor maps the units the two curricula share and starts with what is missing, then spreads the rest across the weeks of the term so nothing piles up before January or May.
Arabic slips when every other subject is in another language
What the tutor does
The tutor keeps a fixed part of every lesson for reading, spelling and grammar from the ministry book, and sets a short piece of writing each week to correct with you in the next lesson.
Multiple-choice questions that look easy
What the tutor does
The tutor trains you to read all four options before choosing, to rule out a wrong option for a clear reason, and to check there is one tick per question before scanning and uploading.
The time difference and the upload deadlines
What the tutor does
We write the exam timetable in your local time and in Cairo time, and before each term we go through downloading, printing, scanning and uploading the paper on the day of each subject.
Choosing between the Thanaweya Amma and the Baccalaureate in Secondary 1
What the tutor does
The tutor explains what each system means for a learner abroad: where Secondary 2 and 3 are sat, which subjects count towards the total, and that the choice is final once you enrol.
